School Field Trips

Educational School Field Trips

Teachers, book your field trip now at Dewberry Farm where fun and learning go hand in hand. Students will mix hands-on agricultural learning experiences with good down home farm fun!

Learning about farming and agriculture has never been so much fun. Field trips to the farm are available Wednesday through Friday, in April, for elementary school age children. In the Fall, children have many activities available to them. Among the activities are a wagon ride to pick their own pumpkin from our pumpkin field, learning about barnyard animals and a venture through the corn maze led by our guides.

Get Lost — or Not!

Pumpkins and Bees, if you please!
Take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. Learn why bees are needed to grow pumpkins. We also talk about the different varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squash. Students will be able to pick their own 'kid-sized' pumpkin from the field.

The Cackle Palace: Sing it to me, Ladies!
Learn the difference between chickens and roosters and why some eggs are brown, some are white, and some have polka dots. Also, learn different names for chickens: hens, roosters, pullets, cocks, etc.

Dewberry Farm's Barnyard Babies
Our barnyard has grown by leaps and bounds. It's home to baby chickens (chicks), baby rabbits (kits) and baby goats (kids).

Students have the opportunity to feed goats and visit with other animals in the barnyard, like a miniature donkey, guineas, and turkeys.

Mobile Classroom
The Southwest Dairy Association's Mobile Classroom will be at the farm several days during the Fall field trips. Please check the Farm Calendar for the schedule.
