Visiting a Pumpkin Patch With Toddlers? Here's What to Know Before You Get to Dewberry Farm

Little boots, big pumpkins, and plenty of fall memories! Here's everything parents should know before bringing their littlest pumpkin pickers to Dewberry Farm.
There's something pretty special about watching your toddler experience a pumpkin patch for the first time.
Maybe it's the excitement of finding a pumpkin that's just their size, the look on their face when they meet a farm animal, or that adorable fall photo you'll probably keep on your fridge for years.
At Dewberry Farm in Brookshire, Texas, just west of Houston near Katy, fall is all about making those kinds of memories. And while our Fall Festival has plenty of excitement for bigger kids, there's lots for our littlest visitors to enjoy, too! If you're wondering what a day at the pumpkin patch looks like with a toddler, here's a little peek at the fun waiting for your family.
What Can Toddlers Do at Dewberry Farm?
More than you might think!
You don't need to fill every minute with rides and activities to have a wonderful day at the farm. Sometimes, the simplest experiences are the ones toddlers love most. From exploring pumpkins to meeting barnyard animals, there are plenty of opportunities for little ones to discover something new. And the best part? You can take your time and let your toddler explore at their own pace.
Let Them Find Their Perfect Pumpkin
Is there anything cuter than a toddler trying to pick up a pumpkin that's almost as big as they are?
Our pumpkin patch is one of the most loved parts of fall at Dewberry Farm, and it's a wonderful place to introduce little ones to a favorite autumn tradition.
Let them wander, point out different pumpkin colors and shapes, and choose one that catches their eye.
Some children want the biggest pumpkin in the patch. Others find a tiny one and refuse to put it down.
Either way, you'll want your camera ready!
Parent tip: Take your pumpkin patch photos early in your visit, while everyone is still fresh and excited.
Pumpkins are available for purchase separately from admission, with prices based on size.
Say Hello to the Farm Animals
For many little ones, meeting farm animals is one of the most exciting parts of a visit.
There's something magical about watching a toddler see an animal they've only known from books, songs, or cartoons. Our barnyard animals give families a chance to slow down, explore, and enjoy a little farm life together.
Visitors have also highlighted the farm animals, friendly staff, and variety of activities in publicly shared Google reviews.Remember to stay close to your little ones, follow posted animal-area instructions, and wash hands after visiting.
Don't Forget the Fall Family Photos!
Let's be fair. Part of the fun of visiting a pumpkin patch is getting those adorable fall pictures!
Between the colorful pumpkins, seasonal decorations, and Dewberry Farm's Pumpkin House, you'll find plenty of opportunities to capture the moment.
Whether you're hoping for a family portrait or just a candid picture of your toddler exploring, there's no shortage of beautiful fall backdrops. And don't worry if your little one won't sit still or look at the camera. Sometimes those silly, unexpected photos turn out to be everyone's favorites.

Can Toddlers Ride the Attractions at Dewberry Farm?
This is one of the most common questions parents have before visiting. Dewberry Farm offers a variety of family attractions, but some rides have height requirements.
According to our Fall Festival FAQ, most rides require children to be at least 36 inches tall to ride with an adult and 42 inches tall to ride independently. Certain attractions have additional safety requirements.
If your little one isn't tall enough for a particular ride, there's no need to worry.Exploring the pumpkin patch, visiting the animals, and enjoying the fall displays can make for a wonderful day all on their own.
Parent tip: Check your child's height before visiting and review the current attraction information so you know which experiences may be available.
Is Dewberry Farm's Fall Festival Too Scary for Toddlers?
Not at all! Our daytime Fall Festival is a great way for families with young children to enjoy the sights and traditions of autumn.
You'll find pumpkins, farm activities, seasonal decorations, and plenty of opportunities to make happy fall memories.Dewberry Farm also hosts BOOriffic Nights, which includes nighttime Halloween experiences and haunted attractions.
Some of those experiences feature jump scares, darkness, and spooky effects, so they may not be the best fit for very young children.
For toddlers, we generally recommend starting with the daytime Fall Festival, where they can enjoy the pumpkin patch and farm atmosphere without the more intense Halloween scares.
Little Moments Make the Best Fall Memories
At the end of the day, your toddler probably won't remember how many attractions you visited.
But you might always remember the way their face lit up when they spotted their first pumpkin, the excitement of meeting a farm animal, or the little hand reaching for yours as you explored together. Those are the moments that make fall traditions so special.
At Dewberry Farm, we love being part of those memories, whether it's your family's first pumpkin patch adventure or a tradition you've been enjoying for years.
So grab those little boots, charge your camera, and come make some fall memories with us!
